I didn’t plan to make any cookies for Easter but my dear friend Path called to request some. I usually decide in advance what shapes, cutter or color scheme I’m going to use but she needed the cookies for the next day, so I just use roses for inspiration.
I recently took my first cake decorating class (I’ll tell you the story later), and the instructor show us, how to make toothpick roses. I wanted to give it a try and this was the perfect opportunity.
Basically you pipe a rose using the common method but instead of a nail you use a toothpick as a base (it help you to move the rose around) then you insert in it a little piece of wax paper (this will support the mini rose). You need to use stiff consistency royal icing. Start piping the center of the rose in a circular motion and then the individual petal. I use tip #101 for this roses. Finally you take out the wax paper from the toothpick and let it dry for several hours.
Once I have the roses I just put them everywhere,

For the Easter eggs I combine them with this wet on wet roses

Of course you can make them in different sizes. You can see 3 different sizes here.
Please if you have any questions just let me know, I’ll be more than happy to help
