Skulls sugar cookies

October 26th, 2011

I was in the supermarket the other day and saw another costumer with one reusable groceries bag with a skulls design that screamed “I want to be a cookie”. I try to get a mental picture of all the details but with 3 little kids around me it was almost impossible. So I head to the cashier’s area to get one just to find out that the bag was from the previous Halloween season and was not available anymore. Since then I have those cookies . . . I mean that design spinning in my head. Luckily for me, in a school event last week, a lady had the same bag and this time I have pen and paper to capture it. I was so excited and get everything ready in no time to start decorating them just to realize that I didn’t like how my 2 first attempts turn out.  So I ended up decorating them with anything and everything that came to my mind and this is the end result

These are the original designs that I didn’t like, maybe it was too late that night, I was tired, maybe I have big expectations, maybe the little skulls were too big and make the design too busy or I don’t know what. And guess what? The next morning my husband pick those as his favorites. Too late !!!

Despite the challenge to decorate them with just two colors, I really like the final result on most of them. Like these cute spiders !!

Or these bat and spooky eyes. Look how different the eyes look when your reverse the colors . I like the orange eyes with black background a lot more than the other, maybe  the outline also have a visual impact; even the shape of the cookie.

I also had a chance to try new stuff, like this wet on wet that  always scare me. Not perfect but really good and is actually easy, well not that difficult.

Chio muchas gracias !!! in Spanish because is more meaningful for me. Tell your Mom that I always remember her “con mucho cariño” because you were always so nice with me. Beautiful es the word to describe Peque’s daughter. A huge hug for all of you, one day we will decorate some cookies together in Los Mochis. There is a lot of recipes for diabetics in English websites so please let me know if you need help with that. Que Dios las bendiga y gracias Chio por tomarte el tiempo de ver mis creaciones y dejarme tus comentarios.
