Cookie Round Up – Temple Texas

Cookie Round Up is a retreat style event organized by Tammi and Todd Colatti from 2T stencils. There you have a chance to peacefully enjoy creating cookies and learning new techniques and tricks. Moreover, is also a perfect chance to meet other fellow cookiers that share your same passion.  I was honored to be invited as a demonstrator for the event this past weekend. Tammi asked me to create cookies using wafer paper, a medium I love to use in my cakes and flowers but that never incorporate in my cookies other than for some small details. Was a challenge but I’m really please with the cookies I came up with for this special 2 days event.

Had a great time, learn a lot from the other amazing demonstrators and met a lot of wonderful ladies at the retreat. If you are interested, they are having the next Cookie Round Up in Kentucky on February.

Mermaid cookies

This set was for a recurrent costumer. I love her because she always have really fun party themes for her daughter and know exactly what she wants. She even bring me the necessary cookie cutters , but always give me freedom to design and bring to life her ideas in the cookies. This year they had a pool party with a Mermaid theme.

The mermaid cutter is shaped as a side view of a mermaid but I design it looking to the front.

I used non-perils, airbrush and hand painted goal accents for the jellyfishes

Some other techniques here: airbrush accent color and piped scales for the mermaid tales and scales stencil for the plaque. The shell in the plaque was made out of fondant. For the mermaid tail I used a huge whale cutter.

Shopkins cake and cookies

A few months back we were in a Shopkins theme Birthday party when one of my daughters friends announced that she also wanted the same theme for her birthday. I was in charge of making it happen and these are the Shopkins cake and cookies I make for her.

Mix media – “Antique Hearts” cookies

Cookie Connection’s latest challenge was “mix media cookies”. This year I want to be more involved in the cookie community so I took a small step and create these cookies for the challenge. By the way I miss the deadline for submission but I really have fun working with this little set of cookies. Next time hopefully I’ll be on time because their prizes are good!

Pumpkin and fall leaves cake

I present you a fall inspired cake with wafer paper leaves. The cake was to celebrate two of my dear sugar friends birthdays , so it had to be something special.

Those that know me know that I love edible wafer paper. It is easy to use, cut any shape and it dries fast saving a lot of time.

Poppies – wafer paper flowers

One of the easier and faster cake I have ever made but one of my favorites. The vibrant and bold colors match the personality of the lady that inspired it. The flowers are one of my first experiments with wafer paper. Petals and center of the flowers were paint with dust colors, leaves were  spray painted.
